I do not recommend this hospital. On Wednesday, April 16, I took my son to the emergency room. We were there for over 7 hours, yet he did not receive the proper medical attention. Dr. Orantes stated that since he didn’t have a fever, there was no infection, and that the lab results would come back normal. She made these assumptions without running the necessary tests and completely disregarded the important symptoms my son was experiencing following a recent surgery.
Due to the clear lack of empathy and care, I decided to request a voluntary discharge so I could take him to another hospital. At that point, Dra. approached me and said she would now perform the tests—but it was already too late. After waiting so long and receiving no medication or treatment for his pain, I chose to sign the voluntary discharge form.
To my surprise, I was told that the decision would be under my own responsibility and that the insurance would not cover the bill. I find this extremely unfair. We spent nearly 8 hours in the waiting room, no tests were done, no medications were given, and the service was very poor. It’s not right to be charged for such a disappointing and inadequate level of care

From start to finish I was blown away by the service at CHOC. We were transferred in from St. Francis hospital. The nurses and doctors were so attentive and kept us up to speed on everything. We had so much confidence that our son would be taken cared of. We were so confident that we rested couple days at home because the nurses took care of our son like it was their own child. Dr Sinha gave me a drawing of what is going on and what surgical procedure they were going to operate. I had such confidence in the doctors to do the job. My son was carefully monitored and taken cared of. We were at CHOC for a time period of about 3 weeks. Was impressed by the security as well. They were very observant and they made sure no unnecessary visitors would go through. Thank you so much to everyone at CHOC! Keep up the great work!

DONT GO HERE! Place is not busy but took us 4 hrs before we got discharge home for just a nausea medication. We waited
45 mins to be transferred to another site to see a doctor after registration, took us another 45 mins to see a doctor, we waited 1 hr and 30 mins to get Zofran medication and asked us to wait for 15 mins to get the prescription but it actually took them 45 mins to give prescription and discharge papers. My son was dizzy and lethargic and they asked him to walk from the waiting area to the nurse station to get his medication. The nurse is very inconsiderate of my son situation, she didnt see my son or did a physical assessment she just called his name and ask him to go to nurse station to get his medication. She was not involved with the doctor assessing my son, poor communication between the doctor and NURSE MADISON. On our way out, theh called us back and wanting to return to nurse station. We went back and they said my son has a fever which they said before he was ok and can go home. Very poor nursing care.
